Ammon News - Lower House Speaker Ahmed Safadi on Wednesday held official talks with his Iraqi counterpart, Mohammad Halbousi.
During the meeting, Safadi stressed importance of building on the outcomes of the second session of Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership, which was held in Jordan about a month ago.
The event was held at invitation of His Majesty King Abdullah II, and attended by Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammad Sudani, as well as a number of presidents and representatives of the region's countries, alongside French leader.
Safadi stressed the importance of providing all capabilities to support Iraq's security and stability, back Baghdad's efforts to consolidate state of law, strengthen its governance and build institutions to continue progress and reconstruction and meet Iraqi people's aspirations.
Safadi added the two countries' parliaments are concerned with overcoming legislative obstacles to support steps of tripartite cooperation between Jordan, Egypt and Iraq and economic projects that have been agreed upon, including electrical interconnection projects.
For his part, Halbousi affirmed "remarkable" appreciation for Jordan's stances under the King's leadership in supporting Iraq.
"Iraqis will not forget the King's stances in supporting Iraq's unity, security and stability and Jordan's role in backing Iraq in the war against ISIS," he added.
Halbousi stressed the importance of working at the parliamentarians' level to orchestrate visions and activate agreements signed by the two countries, and continue cooperation at level of the Arab, Asian and Islamic parliaments and International Parliamentary Union to adopt common issues.
He also referred to Palestinian cause as a priority and noted supportive position of Iraq and Jordan in this regard.
Halbousi said Iraq's parliament supports outcomes of the tripartite summit and bilateral agreements inked by the two countries in the security, industrial and commercial sectors and the energy file.
In addition, he highlighted importance of completing the electrical interconnection project and extending the oil pipeline to the port of Aqaba to increase national revenues and multiply export outlets.
