On the occasion of the celebration of the Arab Day for the Eradication of Illiteracy, Mahafzah said that the illiteracy rate in Jordan decreased from 88% in 1952 to 67.6% in 1961 and to 19.5% in 1990 until the general rate of illiteracy until the end of 2021 reached (4.9%) with a rate of (2.5%) among males and (7.4%) among females, according to the Department of Statistics (DoS). He pointed out that the number of adult education and literacy centers that were opened for the academic year 2021/2022 is 144 centers, with 121 centers for females and 23 centers for males.
