Jordanian-Sri Lankan council has key role in advancing ties: JBA President

Ammon News - The Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) has praised the Sri Lankan embassy's efforts to advance economic ties between the two countries.

During a meeting with Sri Lankan Ambassador Shanika Dissanayake, JBA President Hamdi Tabbaa emphasized the importance of the Joint Jordanian-Sri Lankan Business Council in promoting bilateral investment and strengthening trade ties, according to a statement released by JBA on Thursday.

Tabbaa urged the Sri Lankan business community to visit Jordan to see for themselves the investment opportunities and incentives available in Jordan's "attractive investment environment characterized by a strategic location and political and monetary stability, as well as to benefit from free trade agreements signed with Arab and foreign countries."

Ambassador Dissanayake reaffirmed the long-standing ties between Sri Lanka and Jordan and applauded JBA for its role in advancing trade relations.

She emphasized the need for bilateral meetings to discuss added-value industries and present each country's market to the other.

Jordan-Sri Lanka trade exchange was JD33.3 million in the first nine months of 2022, with JD1.2 million in Jordanian exports of garment, metal, and steel, and JD32.1 million in imports of spices, coffee, tea, and coconut.
