Ammon News - Deputizing for His Majesty King Abdullah II, Health Minister Dr. Firas Hawari inaugurated the activities of International Healthcare Travel Forum 2022, under the theme: "Amman, the Arab Medical Capital", on Saturday, with the attendance of 750 participants from 51 countries, organized by Private Hospitals Association (PHA).
The forum, which is held in partnership with Ministry of Health and Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), and in cooperation with the International Hospital Federation (IHF), World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress and Arab Hospitals Federation (AHF), aims to strengthen Jordan's position as a destination for medical tourism and health travel and implement Economic Modernization Vision (EMV), launched under Royal auspices, which deems medical tourism is a priority for economic growth.
Speaking at the event, Hawari said Jordan's medical tourism receives "remarkable" attention from His Majesty King Abdullah II, adding that this interest was "clear" in His Majesty's affirmation on multiple occasions that the Kingdom owns "sufficient" elements to become a "distinguished" destination for medical tourism.
Hawari also stressed His Majesty's keenness to meet with the sector's government and private leaders to emphasize the need to continue developing medical tourism services to remain "competitive", maintain public-private coordination and concerted efforts to advance these services.
In his speech during the opening ceremony, which was attended by Ministers of Tourism, Nayef Fayez, Interior Mazen Faraya, Government Communications Faisal Shboul, and Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmed Hanandeh, Hawari said the forum contributes to supporting Jordan's medical tourism by providing opportunities to shed light on the stakeholders' "true" cooperation in the medical and tourism sectors.
This effort, he noted, aims to enhancing role integration, which made Jordan's medical tourism a "pioneer" in the region in attracting patients to receive treatment in the Kingdom's "distinguished" healthcare facilities, thanks to availability of capabilities and equipment, diverse medical expertise and specializations, quality services provided at affordable prices, fulfillment of patients’ needs, and "standout" tourist resorts.
