Ammon News - The Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) on Tuesday announced the establishment of a Jordanian-Swedish business council to coincide with Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia's visit.
The JBA said in a statement that it organized a Jordanian-Swedish Business Forum in cooperation with the Swedish embassy to enhance prospects for joint investment and economic cooperation between the business communities.
JBA President Hamdi Tabbaa underlined the significance of the royal visit, which reflects the deep and historical Jordanian-Swedish relations, pointing out the association's commitment to further enhance ties and promote the investment environment and promising economic sectors.
During the meeting, in which business people and representatives of communication and information technology, healthcare, water, energy, and chemicals sectors participated, the JBA highlighted investment opportunities in sectors of common interest.
Trade exchange between Jordan and Sweden stood at JD39.9 million in the past eight months of 2022. Jordanian exports to the Scandinavian country amounted to JD2.1 million in the same period, while imports topped JD37.8 million, resulting in a JD35.7 deficit in Sweden's favor.
