Ammon News - The Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) will Tuesday hold the 4th Conference for Small and Medium Enterprises on Tuesday, titled "Employer-Employee Dialogue: Towards Effective Labor Market Policies."
The event is carried out under the patronage of the minister of Labor and minister of industry, trade, and supply in cooperation with the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions (GFJTU).
In a press release issued on Monday, Fathi Jaghbir, the president of JCI, emphasized the significance of effective labor policies, stating, "As employers, we view labor as a crucial and indispensable component of the production process."
He explained that the Chamber seeks to effect positive change in labor market policies because they are an important component of national employment strategies and play a significant role in lowering unemployment rates and achieving desired economic growth.
Jaghbir continued, conducting a thorough dialogue between the supply and demand parties (employers and workers) aids in communicating demands to the government to adopt efficient policies that address labor market imbalances.
He noted the JCI and GFJTU held a series of workshops tackling three labor market topics: training and technical education, social dialogue and partnership, and social protection.
Jaghbir voiced hope that the government would adopt the conference's recommendations and use them as a guide to create efficient labor market regulations that would increase the market's efficiency.
A labor market unit, one of the chamber's new arms, will be launched on the sidelines of the conference, with the goal of addressing labor market imbalances, developing labor market policies, meeting the industrial establishments' need for skilled and trained laborers, and creating job opportunities in decent, appropriate workplaces.
