Trade deficit rose to 33.2% until last August

Ammon News - The Kingdom's trade deficit increased from the beginning of this year to the end of last August, by 33.2%, to reach 7.087 billion dinars, compared to the same period last year, which amounted to 5.320 billion dinars.

The monthly report of the Department of Statistics (DoS) on foreign trade in Jordan indicated on Sunday, that the value of total exports in the past eight months of 2022 increased by 43.6%, to reach 5.926 billion dinars, compared to 4.127 billion dinars in the same period 2021.

The value of national exports also increased in the eight months of this year, by 45.6%, or an amount of 5.454 billion dinars, compared to 3.745 billion dinars in the same period last year.

The value of re-exports amounted to about 472 million dinars at the end of last August, an increase of 23.9%, compared to the same period last year, which amounted to about 382 million dinars, according to the report.

As for imports, they amounted to 13.014 billion dinars during the past eight months of this year, an increase of 37.8%, compared to 9.447 billion dinars in the same period last year.

On the monthly level, the value of total exports during the month of August reached 816.8 million dinars, an increase of 36.4%, compared to the same month last year.

The value of national exports during last August amounted to 762.8 million dinars, an increase of 39%, compared to the same month last year, while the value of re-exports amounted to 54.0 million dinars, during last August, an increase of 8.0%, compared to the same month last year. .

As for the Kingdom's imports last August, they amounted to 1.957 billion dinars, an increase of 31.5%, compared to the same month last year.

The deficit in the trade balance, during last August, amounted to about 1.140 billion dinars, an increase of 28.2%, compared to the same month last year.
