Ammon News - Senate President, Faisal Fayez, on Friday evening attended the inaugural ceremony of the Jordanian-Mexico Friendship Association at Mexican ambassador's residence to Jordan, Roberto Rodriguez Hernandez, in the presence of a number of political, economic, diplomatic and media figures.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, the association's president, Barakat Awajan, stressed the importance of its role in strengthening Jordanian-Mexican relations, noting that Mexico is a large emerging economy and ranks first in the Americas and fifth globally in terms of heritage sites.

A symposium, he said, will be held on the bilateral relations and future plans to establish a Jordanian-Mexican business council to enhance joint cooperation.

For his part, Hernandez said this "important" initiative will be a "strong" driver to strengthen relations and grasp Mexican culture, which is an example of tolerance and stability.

Jordanian-Mexico relations are witnessing a "distinguished and clear" development, seen in the unified positions and visions on many issues and signing agreements and memoranda of understanding in the cultural, economic, social, tourism and education fields, the envoy noted.

Other agreements in the cooperation field on customs issues, air operation services, civil aviation and justice will be completed soon and in their final stages, he said.

Establishment of Jordanian-Mexico Friendship Association aims to strengthen and support these relations, to form a communication and cooperation bridge between the two countries' peoples and get acquainted with their culture and civilization and highlight them at all levels, he pointed out.

Hernandez noted the association will have a role in developing and promoting joint projects, business opportunities, trade and investment between the two countries and coordinating launch of exhibitions and economic seminars.

Recently, he said Jordan Businessmen Association (JBA) and the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) and their Mexican counterparts signed memorandums of understanding (MoU).

In addition, he noted cultural, academic and scientific exchanges will be supported by promoting bilateral agreements to exchange scholarships for teaching and scientific research bodies.

Coordination and cooperation between public and private Jordanian universities is underway with Mexican counterparts to support joint tourism and heritage promotion, he pointed out.
