Ammon News - The Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) and the Jordan Free and Development Zones Group (JFDZG) on Wednesday discussed with an Azeri delegation from the Alat Free Economic Zone prospects of networking.
The meeting, attended by Azerbaijan's Ambassador Eldar Salimov, highlighted investment opportunities and incentives offered by Alat in the communication and information technology sectors, drug and food industries, and prospects of interconnecting investors in both countries.
JBA Board Member Yusri Tahboub said Jordan has various free and development zone groups that attract foreign investment, generate job opportunities, enhance exports, and provide logistic services to investors, thus advancing the investment environment and bolstering the local sector's competitiveness.
He pointed to many investment opportunities available in health care, tourism and medical tourism, agriculture, and food and medicine industries in both nations, requiring the establishment of more strategic partnerships between the two business communities.
The Azeri envoy praised the efforts of the JBA and its role in enhancing economic ties with his country, noting that this is the second delegation sent to Jordan in cooperation with the association.
The two countries are connected through historical relations, which are the base of trade exchange development, and several cooperation agreements in various spheres, he added.
For his part, Deputy Chairman of Alat, Ismayil S. Manafov, said the authority witnessed significant success in recent years and attracted investments in various fields, pointing to its strategic location next to Baku's port.
The JFDZG's Chairman Khalaf Hmeisat noted the group's part in meeting the increasing demand for investment in free and development zones, attracting investment, and generating job opportunities for Jordanians.
