Ammon News - AMMAN - Prime Minister Samir Rifai discussed on Wednesday with a delegation from the Millennuim Challenge Corporation (MCC) prospects for further financial aid to the Kingdom.
During the meeting, the two sides highlighted the financial assistance the corporation will offer to the Kingdom, especially in water projects after finalizing technical, environmental and feasibility studies this year.
Rifai commended cooperation between the MCC and Jordan, and urged the corporation to offer more grants to the Kingdom to help it improve and upgrade the water sector, especially in Zarqa governorate.
The delegation comprises Managing Director for Technical Assessment in the Department of Compact Development, Dick Day, and Assistant Director of Operations Jay Scheerer.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Public Sector Development and State Minister for Mega Projects Imad Fakhoury, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Jaafar Hassan, Minister of Water and Irrigation Mohammad Najjar and the American Ambassador to the Kingdom Stephen Beecroft.
MCC is an independent U.S. foreign aid agency that is helping lead the fight against global poverty.
In August 2007 the Millennium Challenge Account MCA was established in Jordan to handle the relationship between the Kingdom the MCC with the aim of setting up the developmental program that will be funded by the Millennium Challenge Fund.
