Ammon News - HRH Princess Basma Bint Ali, chairperson of the board of trustees of the Hashemite Fund for the Development of the Jordan Badia and founder of the Royal Botanical Garden, on Monday attended a workshop to mark the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought.
Under the theme “let's get together to combat drought”, the event was organised by the Hashemite University's Prince Hassan Bin Talal Faculty of Natural Resources and Environment, in cooperation with the Jordanian Society for the Desertification Control and Badia Development, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The participants highlighted the importance of global, regional and local participation to address issues related to combating desertification and drought, which affect security in its comprehensive sense, provoking conflicts and destroying jobs, as well as affecting food and water security, crop productivity and biodiversity amongst other challenges.
