Oldest Palestinian woman prisoner dies in Israeli jail

Ammon News - Sa'dia Farajallah, a 68-year Palestinian woman from Hebron, died in an Israeli jail on Saturday, becoming the oldest female prisoner to die in Israeli detention, according to the Palestinian Prisoners Club.

Farajallah, a mother of eight, from the town of Idna, west of Hebron in the south of the occupied West Bank, was arrested near Al-Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron on January 18, 2021, and died in mystery circumstances today in Damon prison, it said.

Tension ran high across Israeli jails following her death, the Prisoners Club said, holding the Israeli prisons authority fully responsible for her death and the lives of all prisoners.

The death of Farajallah, one of 29 women held in Damon jail, brought to 230 the number of Palestinians who died in Israeli detention.
