Ammon News - The Ministry of Water and Irrigation on Monday signed an agreement with a local contractor to rehabilitate the water networks in Shobak in the Ma'an Governorate.

The JD2.159 million deal is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The ministry is currently conducting several projects across the Kingdom to boost water supply and reduce water loss, said Water Minister Mohamed Najjar, expressing gratitude for USAID support in addressing water issues in Jordan.

The ministry's Secretary-General Bashar Bataineh said the project in Shobak includes building a 1,000 cubic-meter water tank, rehabilitating a pumping station and buiding a new warehouse.

Moreover, home water connectors will be maintained and new main water lines and control systems will be installed.

Bataineh said the project, which will be completed in about 540 days, will help upgrade monitoring systems, thus increasing water supply efficiency and conserving water sources.
