Training held for Jordanian vocational education officials

Ammon News - The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Dong-Eui University have conducted an invitational training programme for Jordanian vocational and technical education officials from May 8 until May 21.

The training programme targeted managerial officers from the Ministry of Education in Jordan, education officials from the Zarqa Technical High School, and educational supervisors from the Zarqa Governorate, according to a KOICA statement.

The training programme was part of one of KOICA projects, named “Establishment of the Specialised Industrial School in Zarqa, Jordan”, (2017-2022/$10.38million) implemented by Dong-Eui University in Korea.

The programme was designed to develop a plan for sustainable vocational and technical education in Jordan in the long run and establish the operational plan for Jordan Zarqa Specialised Industry School.

To achieve this goal, the participants experienced a variety of activities, including visiting seven specialised and Meister high schools in Busan, learning from Korea’s vocational and technical education policy and system.

The programme also included the Meister High Schools curriculum and training operation, employment support, and career guidance techniques.

One of the officials at Dong-Eui University who organised the training mentioned that this fellowship programme provided an opportunity to establish “a concrete action plan” which aims to improve vocational and technical education in Jordan.

Participants from the Ministry of Education in Jordan cited the importance of cultivating well-trained technical professionals. They added that it was one of the key factors behind Korea’s remarkable economic development by establishing mid- and long-term vocational/technical policy and achieving related policy goals, read the statement.

Furthermore, they believed the experience during the field trip would largely contribute to planning the next step of Jordan’s TVET policy and operating Zarqa Technical High School as a representative model school in Jordan, according to the statement

This training was conducted only for those who completed the COVID-19 vaccination in strict compliance with the rules and recommendations of health authorities during the entire training period.
