A number of temporary exhibitions at the Department of Antiquities' (DoA) museums were held and an awareness campaign about the museum at the lowest point on Earth was launched for school students. Hotels and airports were provided with brochures about the Kingdom's museums, as part of the activities. The objective of the IMD is to raise awareness of the fact that “museums are an important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among peoples," according to the International Council of Museums (ICOM) website.
