Ammon News - Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) President Nayef Bakhit and Norwegian Ambassador to Amman Espen Lindbeck on Monday discussed the stages of the Sahara Forest Project.
Talks during the meeting went over the technologies used to replant arid lands through the use of seawater and solar energy to produce vegetables, which could help the Kingdom achieve food security, and advance the technical training mechanism provided to young Jordanian women in the project, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
A Jordanian -Norwegian partnership in Aqaba, the Sahara Forest Project's pilot phase was launched in 2017, Bakhit said. The project is moving towards production phase, pending the tender of seawater pipeline project submitted by the Aqaba Development Corporation last year, the envoy said.
