Female economic participation still at 14% in 2021 — DoS

Ammon News - The average monthly wages for public and private sectors workers during 2019 totalled JD543, the Department of Statistics (DoS) said on Wednesday.

According to a report issued by the DoS on the occasion of Labour Day (May 1), the number of social security-covered workers rose from 366,000 in 2000 to some 1,327,823 in 2020, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The figures show that despite the achievements recorded over the years, Jordanian female economic participation in 2021 accounted for only 14 per cent, still below the desired level.

This means that one in around seven women over the age of 15 were economically active in 2021, against one in around two males above 15 years.
