Ammon News - Remittances of Jordanian expatriates doubled in the fourth week of Ramadan, which began April 2nd, compared to the first three weeks.
President of the Jordanian Exchange Association Abdulsalam Al Saudi said money sent to Jordan mainly came from Jordanians in the Arab Gulf region and the United States, while remittances from the Kingdom to other countries are normal at this time of year.
He also said the exchange market has recovered to pre-pandemic levels, expecting a further improvement with the increase in tourist numbers and expats coming home for the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
Ayman Alawneh, an exchange company head, said there is high demand for the Jordanian Dinar to cover incoming remittances and buy foreign currencies, adding that incoming remittances are higher than their annual average for this time of year.
