Lebanon crisis endangers child health, UNICEF says

Ammon News - UNICEF Wednesday said that more than 90 percent of children in Lebanon do not meet the minimum standards that allow them to have sufficient meals and diet.

The UN fund said that a poor diet deprives children from what they need to properly grow and lead a healthy life until they reach adulthood.

UNICEF Representative in Lebanon Etty Higgins said that with about 80 percent of the population in Lebanon suffering from poverty, many families can no longer seek primary health care for their children.

Higgins added that many are no longer able to provide the food and nutrition their children need to survive and thrive.

She added that the worsening global economic situation and the rise of prices and inflation had an impact on the already catastrophic crisis in Lebanon.
