Workshop explores potentials to increase Jordan's agri-food exports to Italian market

Ammon News - The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply on Wednesday organized a workshop on the three-year project, entitled :"Supporting competitiveness and sustainable innovation for Jordanian small- and medium-sized agricultural enterprises."

The project, which was launched in 2021, is carried out, in cooperation with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM) and aims to strengthen Jordanian-Italian ties in a number of economic fields, to achieve common interests, according to a Trade Ministry statement.

Some 100 participants from various partner agencies from Jordan's public and private sectors took part in the workshop, mainly importers and exporters of foodstuffs and agricultural products, in addition to a number of relevant government agencies, the statement said.

During the event, Jordanian producers from small and midsize businesses (SMBs) were introduced to opportunities to benefit from the project's support, which includes training farmers and traders to align their products with international requirements and provide the necessary equipment to qualify Jordanian products for export.

In addition, the event sough to network farmers with the EU markets, within the context of enhancing Jordanian products' competitiveness by providing the necessary support to reach European markets, especially Italy, the statement added.
