Irbid exports up by 21.8pct in Q1 of 2022

Ammon News - Irbid's exports in the first quarter of 2022 spiked by 21.8 percent compared to the same period of 2021.

According to an Irbid Chamber of Industry (ICI) statement on Tuesday, exports of the first four months of the current year amounted to $323 million compared to $265 million last year.

Head of ICI Hani Abu Hassan said Al Hassan Industrial Estate exported $297 million, while Cyber City's exports stood at $21 million.

The textile and leather sector maintained a leading position in the sector-based exports with a value of $292 million, followed by the medical industries sector by $9 million, the foodstuffs products by $8.7 million, he said. The remaining exports were strewn in the engineering, chemical, mining, construction, plastic and packaging sectors.

US market was the biggest importer, accounting for $288 million worth of Irbid's exports, he added, while Arab countries imported $24 million and the rest were distributed to Canada, Europe, Southeastern Asia and other countries across the world.
