Ammon News - The Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) and Germany's LUMA-International Company GmbH on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding to establish and operate a phosphoric acid factory in southern Jordan.
The agreement was signed by JPMC CEO Abdul-Wahab Al-Rawad, and Managing Director at LUMA-International GmbH Ralf Keller. The signing ceremony was attended by JPMC Board Chairman Mohammad Thneibat.
Thneibat stressed the importance of such agreements to switch to manufacturing through building more factories, thus reducing production and exporting costs and boosting the JPMC status and competitiveness in global markets.
The deal with LUMA-International, he said, underlines the status of the JPMC and its quality phosphate output, in addition to commitment shown by many fertilizer producers to concluding partnerships with the Jordanian company.
He pointed out the company is committed to launching projects with various stakeholders to diversify its income, enhance its role in supporting the national economy and providing jobs for Jordanians.
In turn, Keller commended the achievements of JPMC in production and exports, expressing appreciation for JPMC's efforts in opening to global markets and diversifying partnerships in this field.
He expressed pride in the new partnership with the company, which he said will set the ground for broader future cooperation.
CEO Al-Rawad noted that the JPMC would, under the agreement, provide the new factory with its needs of raw phosphate to produce phosphoric acid, while LUMA is committed to buying the total output of the factory.
