Ammon News - Yarmouk University President, Islam Massad, on Wednesday met with an academic delegation headed by Director of Turkish Studies at the Yunus Emre Institute, Yavuzoglu, on ways of academic cooperation in the Turkish language education program.

In the meeting, Massad said that the university's Faculty of Arts is a leader at the level of Jordanian universities in introducing academic disciplines and departments concerned with teaching various languages, such as English, French, Hebrew, Persian and Turkish.

He stressed the importance of bolstering joint cooperation between Yarmouk University and various official bodies and Turkish academic institutions, to support the Turkish language program at the Faculty of Arts, and to consider assisting the university's plans and vision in developing the Turkish language teaching process, according to innovative wyas and methods that positively reflect on the college's outputs.

Massad pointed out that the University's Council of Deans has recently decided to include courses related to basic skills in Turkish and other foreign languages in the study plan for undergraduate students and for all university faculties, as part of the university's optional requirements as of the next academic year, which requires more cooperation regarding the possibility of providing the university with a group of professors specialized in teaching Turkish language courses.

For his part, Yavuzoglu lauded Yarmouk University's scientific and research position, noting that this expansion in offering academic disciplines related to various languages confirms the university's keenness to communicate with the world, thus enhancing its academic standing and reputation at the regional and international levels.

He expressed the institute's readiness to provide all forms of support to Yarmouk University, represented by the Faculty of Arts, to develop the academic program for the Turkish language, through developing the study plan, and providing professors of various academic ranks.

He commended the university's facilities for its expatriate professors with regard to housing and accommodation on campus.

He pointed out that the institute will provide the Turkish language program at the Faculty of Arts with a comprehensive library, in line with the program's study plan.

The Semitic and Oriental Languages Department at the Faculty of Arts had organized an online lecture on learning Turkish, presented by Yavuzoglu in the seminars and conferences building, and attended by a group of faculty members and students.
