PSUT wins top 3 places in Women in Data Science Datathon

Ammon News - Three teams of undergraduate students from Princess Sumaya University for Technology’s (PSUT) King Hussein School of Computing Sciences have won the top three places in the world among universities participating in the Women in Data Science (WiDS) Datathon organised by Stanford University.

The event saw the participation of 1,800 contestants from universities and companies representing 90 countries.

PSUT ranked 17th, 19th and 20th in the overall standings, according to a PSUT statement.

The virtual competition mainly focused on the best ways to mitigate the effects of climate change and to enhance energy efficiency.

The winning teams comprised PSUT students: Yazeed Badaro, Rima Abu Hamdan, Dana Tiwal, Adnan Saeed, Walid Amro, Joud Masoud, Sarah Abbas, Fayez Abu Al Enein, Rakan Armoush, Rania Al Ali, Amr Raed and Heba Al Najdawi, under the supervision of Bushra Al Hijawi, Osama Abdel Hay and Mohammad Azzeh.

PSUT President Mashhoor Al Refai praised the winning teams, noting that the victory is in line with the vision of HRH Princess Sumaya, chair of the university's board of trustees, to put Jordan on the map of technologically advanced countries.
