JEDCO signs agreements to establish 50 projects countrywide

Ammon News - The Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO), in cooperation with the King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD), signed 50 agreements to establish new productive entrepreneurial projects in the Kingdom's various governorates.

In a statement released on Wednesday, JEDCO's Innovation and Entrepreneurship Director, Mamoun Abu Shawir, said JEDCO received 2,070 people applied to benefit from "Behematikom: Program to Support Youth Projects" from various governorates, as 40% of the applications came from the northern and central governorates, respectively, while 20% were sent from from the Kingdom's south regions.

Abu Shawir added 70% of the total applications have qualified administratively, as an ad hoc committee from JEDCO and KAFD conducted a technical assessment to select the winning applications, according to the criteria published on JEDCO's website.

125 projects from all the Kingdom's governorates were nominated for the next phase of "Behematikom" program, and training was conducted for their owners on the skills to launch their businesses and outline work plans, he noted.

Then, the project owners handed over work plans to JEDCO, which underwent technical assessment by the specialized committee, he noted, adding that field visits to select the 50 best projects.

Agreements were signed to provide technical and financial support for launching 50 entrepreneurial projects for 50 young people out of the total applications submitted to benefit from "Behematikom" program, he noted.

Financial grants will be provided for each project or its expansion, he noted, specialized training will be provided for the winning project owners, who were networked with other supporting entities.

According to the JEDCO statement, the number of projects that will be funded from "Behematikom" program reaches 3 in Irbid governorate, 2 in Balqa and Zarqa, each, in addition to 6 projects in Tafileh region.

The number of projects that were funded in Aqaba, Karak, , Mafraq, Jerash and Madaba are four, five, six, two, and four respectively, the statement added.

Meanwhile, the number of projects that were funded within the capital governorate reached 8, whereas in Ma'an and Ajloun stood at 4 each.
