Ammon News - The National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) and the Business Development Centre (BDC) Monday signed a memo aimed at training farmers and agriculture engineers and rural women.
Director-General of the NARC Nizar Haddad said the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) seeks the rehabilitation of youth on farming and entrepreneurship and the creation of job opportunities. In addition, it will enable farmers and agriculture engineers, as well as women in rural areas, to better deal with technology to improve farming.
Haddad noted the MoU will be a "nucleus" for exchanging experiences between the two parties, especially in the areas of agriculture and entrepreneurship.
Director-General of the BDC Ghaleb Hijazi highlighted the importance of signing the memo with the NARC in agricultural research, noting that the NARC would always leverage advances in technology and the usage of scientific research outputs in the development of agriculture in Jordan.
Hijazi added that the BDC is keen on providing specialised support for entrepreneurs, not the least of which are in the areas of training and creating job opportunities in partnership with other agencies, adding that taking interest in entrepreneurship will spur economic development.
