Ammon News - The King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) has obtained with distinction the Oncology Nursing Residency Program's accreditation, approved by the American Center for Nursing. It is the first medical facility in Jordan and the second in the Middle East to obtain such accreditation.

In a statement on Sunday, KHCC Director General, Asem Mansour, said that this achievement is a source of pride as nursing is the cornerstone of any health institution in the world, and it is necessary to invest in nursing staff through specialization programs, adding that it will positively impact the quality of medical care provided with high professionalism, and increase patient safety and satisfaction.

KHCC Chief Nursing Officer, Majeda Afif, said that the accreditation program develops the expertise of newly graduated nurses who make up the majority of nurses in the labor market, and enables them to provide safe and high-quality nursing care for cancer patients.

"New nurses are enrolled the in an intensive training program that fulfills the theoretical and practical requirements. It includes four basic stages over a period of thirty-nine weeks and ends with the completion of graduation conditions; by passing a comprehensive examination covering the study plan, completing a graduation project on quality improvement, and conducting a research study or a practice based on scientific evidence," she added.

The Chief Nursing Officer indicated that by receiving this accreditation, the KHCC has added an important imprint in the history of the nursing profession in Jordan.
