Ammon News - Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Nayef Fayez and his Jamaican counterpart Edmund Bartlett on Monday discussed means of enhancing tourism exchange and cooperation between the two countries.
The ministers stressed the need for setting up a Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre, whose opening agreement was signed on Sunday in Jordan in cooperation with the Middle East University (MEU).
Fayez spoke of the need to boost the volume of tourism exchange and the exchange of expertise, highlighting Jordan's relevant skills and expertise in the private and public sectors.
He outlined the government's procedures to mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on tourism, noting measures announced recently to facilitate travel to Jordan, including the cancelation of upon-arrival PCR tests for arrivals through air, land and sea borders.
For his part, the Jamaican envoy commended the "diverse and distinguished" Jordanian tourism product and infrastructure, noting its religious, cultural and medical tourism potentials.
A Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre, he said, will contribute to enhancing countries' ability to manage and respond to crises and expedite recovery from the pandemic. He said Jordan's choice to host the centre came due to its safety, security and stability, in addition to technological and educational development and crisis management capabilities.
It was agreed in today's meeting to prepare a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost and regulate joint tourism work and cooperation.
