Ammon News - The al-Rama power station will boost electricity supply to Palestine from 40 to 80 megawatts by summer 2022 under a January 2020 agreement, said Amjad Rawashdeh, Director General of the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO).
Inspecting workflow at the station on Tuesday, Rawashdeh stated that the company's staff continues to work on the project, which is "vital to cementing cooperation between Jordan and Palestine."
He underlined the importance of this move within the framework of the pan-Arab electric interconnection projects to serve the joint Arab market and meet the electricity needs of Palestinians. The project, he indicated, is the second phase of the Jordanian-Palestinian electric interconnection and is building on years of achievements to serve the interests of the two countries and peoples.
Rawashdeh pointed to the ongoing cooperation with Palestine within joint technical studies to continue providing solutions that increase supply, as well as continuing to train Palestinian technical staff in Jordan through a NEPCO special training program in the field of establishing, operating and maintaining electrical systems.
Within a 2008 cooperation project with Palestine, the NEPCO had signed an agreement on January 15, 2020 to increase power supply to Palestine.
