AND personnel foil 2 drug smuggling attempts

Ammon News - Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel foiled an attempt to smuggle one million narcotic pills inside vehicle tires at a border crossings.
In another operation, AND personnel arrested three suspects who had hidden 30,000 narcotic pills inside bird medicines in Zarqa Governorate, northeast Amman, a Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson said Sunday.
The PSD spokesperson noted that AND personnel, as part of the AND's continuous campaigns against drug dealers, have dealt with two big cases of trafficking, promotion and smuggling of narcotic substances in the past few days.
In the first case, AND personnel were tipped off on two suspects who had hidden large quantities of narcotic pills inside trucks at a border crossings. Then they seized the vehicle while trying to enter the Kingdom. Upon searching it, AND personnel discovered one million narcotic pills that were hidden inside three tires, and they arrested two suspects involved in the case, the PSD spokesperson explained.
With regard to the second case, AND personnel received information on three suspects in Zarqa Governorate who have a large amount of narcotic pills to be sold. They followed up on the tip, and after validating it and locating the whereabouts of the narcotic pills, they raided the place and arrested three suspects, the PSD spokesperson said.
Upon searching the place, 30,000 narcotic pills hidden inside plastic bags for medicines to treat birds were found, the PSD spokesperson added.
The two cases and the arrested suspects were referred to the State Security Court, the PSD spokesperson concluded.
