Ammon News - The Goodwill Campaign (GWC), the flagship charity initiative of the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD), on Sunday launched an emergency support program aimed at addressing the needs of local communities and families that are most vulnerable to emergencies.

In a statement, JOHUD said the program "comes in circumstances that call for a concerted national effort to help families who are experiencing harsh living and economic conditions due to emergencies resulting from weather conditions."

HRH Princess Basma bint Talal, Chairperson of the GWC's Higher Committee, told a ceremony to launch the program in the northern governorate of Jerash that the campaign is committed to reaching the largest possible number of families, especially those vulnerable to emergency situations, according to an institutionalized and sustainable approach that will include all regions of the Kingdom.

She stressed that the emergency support program is implemented in cooperation with government entities and partners in all regions, reflecting the values of cooperation and solidarity that characterize the Jordanian society.

Director of the Northern Region Centers at JOHUD, Widad Sharida, indicated that under the program, a center will be established in each region and will be provided with sufficient quantities of materials and assistance needed for families experiencing emergencies.

The aid includes blankets, clothes, heaters, fuel coupons and food aid, according to Sharida, who said that the program’s objectives will be integrated with other GWC's interventions, including home maintenance, educational grants and medical treatments.
