Cold weather to persist for remainder of week

Ammon News - Temperatures on Wednesday are forecast to be above annual average, with cold weather conditions prevailing in most parts of the country, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.

Clouds will build up at high altitudes, and winds will be southeasterly moderate, picking up at times, the JMD added.

Similar weather will persist on Thursday, while Friday will see a significant drop in temperatures as the Kingdom will be affected by a depression accompanied by a very cold air front, with rainfall expected during the day in the western region.

The weather department also predicted snow flurries on the southern hilltops, with southwesterly strong winds exceeding 60 km/h in some areas.

Today, the maximum and minimum temperatures in eastern Amman will range from 15Celsius degrees to 6C during night, while highs in western Amman will be 13C and lows at 4C. The Gulf of Aqaba will see a fair 22C, dropping to 10C at night hours.
