McDonald's employee explains why you 'shouldn't bother' ordering large fries

Ammon News - A McDonald's employee from the US has claimed there's no point in ordering large fries with your meal - because staff are often told to ration the portion sizes.

We all know that McDonald's food isn't exactly good for you, but when the time comes to give in and order from the fast-food giant, many of us will take the opportunity to go all out - and that means ordering a large portion of fries.

But according to one McDonald's employee in the US, going large doesn't necessarily mean you're going to get your money's worth, as they claimed there's a secret rationing process that takes place any time a customer orders a large.

The employee, who posts on TikTok under the username @nnennaaaaa6, shared a video from a recent shift at the fast-food chain in which they served up a large portion of fries in the signature McDonald's box - but admitted they purposefully pinched the bottom of the box so that fewer fries would fit in.

They wrote on the clip: "How we make our large fries - we don't open the cardboard all the way. Saves us more fries for other customers."

Commenters on the viral video - which has racked up over 251,000 views - were split by the employee's claims though, as some other McDonald's staffers insisted they've never been told to ration their portion sizes.

One person said: "Not all McDonald's employees are lazy. You guys are giving all us other hard workers a bad name!"

As another wrote: "Wrong. I worked at McDonald’s for 6 years and our head manager would have had our heads if we had tried to pull something like that."

While a third insisted: "That’s probably just in your location. I’ve worked at like 5 locations and I’m always told to open it and pack it."

There were also comments from other workers who agreed with the claims, stating they'd also been instructed by management not to open the box the whole way.

Someone said: "I worked at McDonald's and I can confirm they told us to do that. Now when I order I make sure they fill them."

And someone else posted: "I worked at McDonald's for nearly 8 years and this is completely correct. The managers at the stores I worked in got mad if you opened it up all the way."
