Ammon News - The latest depression has raised the overall volume of rainfall to 53.1 percent, about 4,351 million cubic meters (mcm) of the long-term annual average of 8.1 billion cubic meters, Ministry of Water and Irrigation said on Sunday.
The rainfall has channeled a total of 32.5 mcm of water into the Kingdom's dams, the ministry added.
Commenting on Jordan's water situation, two sector experts said the Kingdom's "only water source is rainwater."
Former Jordan Valley Authority (JVA) Secretary General Saad Abu Hammour said the only water source in Jordan is rainwater, adding that recent rainfalls were "inconsistent in some parts of the Kingdom."
"Though the current wet season is good, it doesn't meet Jordan's water needs", said former Hydrology Professor at the University of Jordan, Elias Salamah, noting that current precipitation volumes have registered half of the annual water reserve average.
