Ammon News - Yemeni Minister of Education, Tariq Al-Akbari, is visiting Jordan, upon an invitation from HRH Princess Dana Firas, president of the Petra National Trust (PNT) and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Cultural Heritage, to participate in the launching ceremony of the "Heritage for Yemen's Generations" project, which will be held Sunday at the PNT's headquarters.
The PNT is implementing this project, the first of its kind at the region level, with funding from the International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Areas (ALIPH), in cooperation with the Yemeni Ministry of Education, as part of on the PNT's regional efforts to protect cultural heritage and spread awareness its importance.
The PNT is developing an extracurricular educational program for children of the age group (7-12) in Yemen, following the footsteps of the PNT's program. An intensive training program will be held for Yemeni teachers and educational supervisors in Jordan to enable them to implement the program and then support the program implementation in 10 locations in Yemen.
The program aims to instill awareness among participants of the importance of cultural heritage, and enhance their sense of ownership and preservation of their heritage sites through interactive learning methods.
The PNT organized a tour for the guest minister, accompanied by its CEO, Abdullah Abu Rumman, to a number of heritage sites in Amman.
