Ammon News - A major snow squall dumped about 30 centimeters of snow in the highlands across Jordan, particularly north and center, and brought blizzard conditions.
The polar weather system, which left many people stranded on main roads, is not particularly unusual in Jordan but has not been seen for years.
The heaviest snowfall was reported in the northern and central regions. Most in these regions received anywhere from 20 to 30 centimeters.
Meteorologists say the main part of the storm is behind us but did not rule out the chances for scattered and intermittent showers of snow at elevations higher than 900 meters above sea level on Thursday.
Other regions will see rain. Snowfall is expected to recede in the northern and central highlands but will continue in the southern mountainous range.
Rainfall will resume during the day on Friday in the northern and central parts of the Kingdom with the chance for local rains in the southwestern tip of the Kingdom.
Freezing conditions will be felt across the Kingdom for at least the next three days as mercury levels tumble way below the seasonal average and below the freezing point.
As of this morning, there were no reports of major snow-related incidents except for cars and individuals left stranded on some main roads.
