Agriculture minister inspects areas to be planted on desert road sides

Ammon News - Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Hneifat, on Saturday inspected areas that were prepared for planting on the occasion of Arbor Day in the afforestation areas on the desert road sides.

Hneifat was briefed on all preparations and techniques that were taken to plant trees suitable for this area and maintain its sustainability.

He stressed the importance of leveraging treated and refined water as well as rainwater to irrigate the trees that will be planted this year, and not to use drinking water for that purpose.

He added that the ministry considers expanding afforestation in partnership with the private sector, prioritizing the local community members in employment within this direction, which will ensure the implementation of agriculture according to higher success rates.

He pointed out that the ministry distributes more than two million forest trees for free to all public and private entities and citizens annually, to commemorate this day and to plant forest trees in across the Kingdom in order to achieve the royal vision of increasing forest cover and planting fruit trees and appropriate trees for each region.

He estimated that 100,000 forest trees will be planted along the desert road with suitable and appropriate types, such as (tamarisk, casuarina, pepper, acacia and similar drought and desert -tolerant trees).
