Police thwart major currency counterfeiting scheme

Ammon News - Police said Thursday that they have busted two persons involved in a major currency counterfeiting scheme in the northern governorate of Jerash and seized JD250,000 in fake notes.

A statement by the Public Security Department (PSD) said police agents acted on a tip-off that a person is pushing and selling fake notes in the northern governorate.

After investigations, the police had two suspects, the statement indicated, adding that a task force raided the homes of both, arrested them and seized the fake notes in addition to printers and other equipment used in the counterfeiting scheme.
