Ammon News - A man wanted in drug-related cases died during a security raid in northern Ajloun governorate, according to the media spokesperson of the Public Security Directorate (PSD).

Security agents gathered information on a wanted person in drug trafficking and promotion cases, after the suspect fired at security patrols trying to bust him in Ajloun governorate on Wednesday dawn, the spokesperson said.

The suspect was then tracked down in a bush, while attempting to escape in a medical vehicle to outside the governorate, accompanied by other wanted suspects who attempted to help him flee, the official pointed out.

When police pulled over the vehicle carrying the wanted persons, three wanted men, including the main suspect, fired shots at police, the spokesperson added.

The security force applied the rules of engagement with suspects, which led to the injury of a wanted suspect, who was caught in possession of an automatic gun used to shoot at police, the spokesperson added.

The injured was was taken to the hospital, and soon died, while the other two accomplices fled the place and search is underway, the official noted.
