Ammon News - The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities launched Tuesday the National Tourism Strategy of 2021-2025, which was introduced to enable the tourism sector to overcome the Covid pandemic impacts, improve the sector’s revenues, and increase its contribution to the national economy to exceed 2019 levels.
During the launching ceremony, Tourism Minister, Nayef Al-Fayez said the strategy that was developed and prepared with a real partnership and contribution from the private sector, aims to increase tourist traffic, raise the total revenues of the tourism sector, and increase direct employment in the sector in the coming years.
He stressed that the tourism sector, thanks to efforts of its operators and all its employees, is capable to achieve and exceed targeted indicators and figures in the strategy.
He indicated that the strategy, which is aligned with the government's 2021-2023 economic work priorities program and allocated the necessary funds to implement projects contained therein, is linked to specific plans with clear timeframes and performance indicators to ensure implementation, pointing out that it is a living and flexible document and will be subject to review and update according to developments.
Al-Fayez stressed the importance of the tourism sector, which contributes to employing 50,000 Jordanians directly and 250,000 indirectly, expressing his pride in the sector, in which the majority of its employees are Jordanians.
The launching ceremony was attended by ministers, senior officials and sector's stakeholders.
