Ammon News - Head of the Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) Fathi Jaghbir Saturday called for protecting national industry and enhancing its competitiveness.
During an interview with Jordan TV’s "Money and Business" programme, Jaghbir highlighted the high production costs in the Kingdom.
He urged all stakeholders, including the government along with the private sector, to adopt an approach that would pour into supporting the national industry on one hand and achieving the self-reliance principle on the other.
Jaghbir said the private sector's main objectives are economic growth, decent living for citizens and creating job opportunities for the youth to address the high rate of unemployment in the Kingdom.
Commenting on the first Jordanian industry fair in Iraq that was held on December 11, he noted two key outcomes, including establishing a permanent Jordanian commercial center in Baghdad and holding a bi-annual industry fair.
For his part, Head of the Association of Owners of Clearance and Transport Companies Daifullah Abu Aqoula said the clearance sector is the industry’s "right arm," adding that more than 2000 branches exist countrywide to serve industrialists.
