28-12-2009 12:00 AM

Ammon News - AMMAN - Prime Minister Sameer Rifai asked Minister of Agriculture Saeed Al Masri to stay on and oversee a probe into an embezzlement of funds at the ministry.

Masri earlier submitted his resignation to Rifai over the fraud case unveiled recently in which ministry employees were apparently implicated.

Rifai said the investigation should end with the punishment of those responsible and the return of public funds "according to clear and transparent legal procedures.

" The Prime Minister said he had confidence in the minister's ability to take his task with proficiency and honesty, noting the "sound" measures taken since the case was unveiled.
