Minister of Culture Haifa Najjar visited the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM)'s Central Public Libraries Department in central Amman, on the occasion of the World Arabic Language Day, which falls today, and read stories to children in their hall in the library.

"The World Arabic Language Day celebration is a cause of pride for all of us, as it dedicates a world day for our Arabic language, in recognition of it as a living language that expresses our identity, spirit, culture, religion and roots," Najjar said in a ministry statement.

She underlined the need to enhance awareness of the purpose of this celebration "which is to work together to maintain Arabic a living language among our intellectuals, writers, poets, youth and children, and to emphasize the important role it assumes in building bridges of communication between people, highlighting its historical role, preserving its heritage, and supporting its use in all aspects of life."

After reading stories to the children, Najjar discussed the stories' content with them, and presented them with copies of ministry's publications of stories and magazines.
