Water ministry signs agreement to rehabilitate Salt supply network

Ammon News - Minister of Water and Irrigation Mohammad Najjar signed on Monday an agreement to carry out supplementary work for the rehabilitation of the Salt water network, at an estimated cost of JD4.465 million, 90 percent of which is funded by Germany's KfW Development Bank and 10 percent by the Jordan Water Authority.

The 455-day project aims to develop, improve and implement new water networks to upgrade supply and distribution services.

According to a ministry statement, Najjar said that the ministry is focusing its efforts on expediting the implementation of new water networks to address current challenges, including an increasing demand on water.

The ministry, he underlined, is following up on projects with the relevant supervisory authorities using modern and top-notch systems according to a specific timetable.

The minister lauded the KfW Development Bank's support and funding of water and sanitation projects to address the various water challenges.

Elaborating further on the project, Secretary-General of the Jordan Water Authority Bashar Bataineh said that the project, carried out by a local contractor, includes the construction of main and subsidiary networks, installing new networks of ductile and polyethylene pipes, connecting about 5,000 subscribers to the network, executing drilling, extension and installation works for households.
