Iraq: No combat foreign forces in country by year's end

Ammon News - Iraq said Saturday that the date for the withdrawal of US combat forces from the country is inextensible and the country will be free of any foreign forces by the end of the year.

Iraqi Joint Operations Command Spokesman Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji said that the January 31, 2021, deadline for the withdrawal is not subject to extension under the Iraqi agreement with the American side.

He pointed out that the mission of US forces will be restricted to consultation, training, equipment and exchanging intelligence as of the start of 2022, as stipulated by the agreement.
