Ammon News - A civil aviation cooperation deal is set to be signed between Jordan and Panama, along with a number of bilateral agreements, the Chargé d'Affairs of Panama's Embassy in Amman Rolando Hamblina announced Monday.

In an interview to mark his country's National Day, Hamblina referred to the deep-rooted Jordanian-Panamanian relations and efforts to further build on what has been achieved by expanding cooperation in various fields.

"Trade exchange between the two countries is still "modest" and need to be promoted," he added, briefing about the outcomes of meetings with the public and private sectors and the Amman Chamber of Industry with the aim of enhancing traded cooperation.

The acting envoy mentioned that the economy of Panama is based mainly on the shipping and services sector, as ships crossing the Panama Canal from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean save approximately 15,000 km, which is why his country enjoys several free trade agreements with many countries; the most important of which are the United States of America and Central American countries.

"Panama is considered a commercial distributor for Latin American countries; thanks to its geographical location," he added, calling Jordan to take advantage of its distinguished geographical location by exploring the Panamanian experience in maritime shipping and logistics.

He also voiced his country's appreciation for Jordan's contributions toward refugees, urging international community to assume its responsibilities so that Jordan can continue this humanitarian role.
