Ammon News - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh and the Ambassador of Germany in Amman, Bernhard Kampmann, on Tuesday announced the establishment of an energy academy to serve as a regional technical support hub.
The Academy will train and certify technicians to implement innovative and sustainable energy technologies in fields of energy efficiency and digital applications, in accordance with German standards.
Kharabsheh said that increasing the share of renewable energy power in Jordan’s electricity system will provide new job opportunities for Jordanians and support economic growth.
"Jordan has made great efforts to introduce significant renewable energy resources and enhance its total energy mix," the minister said, noting that work is underway to raise the 25 percent contribution of renewable energy in the electricity generation.
Ambassador Kampmann said that Germany has made a notable shift by embracing the sustainable energy transition, and has accumulated a great deal of experience in designing an affordable and reliable energy system, adding that "we are pleased to share this experience with our Jordanian partners."
The ambassador appreciated Jordan's efforts in climate protection and carbon emissions reduction within the global trend.
