Chairman of the Civil Aviation Regulatory commission (CARC), Haitham Mesto, said there are no plans to operate direct round flights between Jordan and Syria " at the present time."
Mesto, speaking to journalists at the Ministry of Transport on Sunday, said the Kingdom "always seeks to increase the number of airlines operated with various countries worldwide," with the aim of promoting economic openness and supporting growth, as aviation helps stimulate economic development.
Mesto said CARC has signed more air transport agreements with various countries globally, noting that the pacts constitute the "cornerstone to operate airlines between Jordan and other world countries".
In a related context, Mesto announced intentions of Turkish Airlines to launch flights to Aqaba early next year, as Jordan's port city represents "an attractive" destination for many international airlines, and due to its exemptions and privileges that support travel movement.
