Education minister presents priorities to develop Jordan's vocational education

Minister of Education, Dr. Wajih Owais, presented the priorities of the education sector, which include institutional development of Jordan's vocational education to align with the labor market's needs and university-based vocational training.

The minister's remarks came at a meeting with the Head of Humanitarian Aid Department and Head of the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit (SHA), Ambassador. Manuel Bessler, SHA Assistant Director-General / Head of Southern Cooperation Department, Ambassador Thomas Gass, a delegation representing Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development (SDC) in Bern, and UNESCO representative in Jordan , Min Jeong Kim, according to a ministry statement on Sunday.

Owais, in the presence of the Swiss Ambassador to Jordan, Lucas Jacir, said the education ministry's priorities include partnership with the private sector and the Technical and Vocational Skills Development Commission (TVSDC).

This future cooperation aims to link the ministry's database with the private sector, education and higher education ministries, vocational training centers and vocational colleges to develop vocational training in line with the labor market's competency standards, according to Owais.

Owais thanked supporting countries and UNESCO, which contributed "remarkably" to advancing Jordan's educational process.

Owais also stressed the ministry's commitment to work with partners and organizations to achieve the "desired" development, which represents Jordanian government's priorities that seek to provide education for all.
