Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Khasawneh met in Beirut Thursday, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi and Jordan's Ambassador to Lebanon Walid Hadid.
Speaking at the meeting, Khasawneh stressed that His Majesty's stances towards Lebanon are based on keenness to support Lebanon to overcome challenges facing it and advance its development.
Jordan, he said, is "ready to do everything possible to support Lebanon and meet brotherly Lebanese people's needs."
Regarding Egyptian gas and electrical connection, Khasawneh noted Jordan is working to accelerate steps taken to see these projects implemented on the ground "as soon as possible," adding that the Kingdom "will work on a daily basis to carry them out."
He said: "We want to develop all cooperation relations between Jordan and Lebanon to the best levels in a way that is beneficial and achieves common interests".
Berri, for his part, asked the PM to convey his greetings to His Majesty King Abdullah II, lauding His Majesty's "permanent and honorable" stances in support of Lebanon in all forums.
Jordan's leadership and political stances to serve Arab causes are "appreciated" in the region and the world, Berri pointed out.
In press remarks, Khasawneh expressed happiness to visit Lebanon, accompanied by a group of ministers, as an expression of solidarity and continuous support of His Majesty to brotherly Lebanon and to provide Beirut with its basic needs.
The PM noted the visit comes shortly after the formation of the new Lebanese government, headed by Najib Mikati, and the phone call held with Mikati.
The PM also referred to the King's commitment through his international and regional contacts to crystallize some "tangible" approaches to secure Lebanon's basic needs.
Noting appreciation expressed by Lebanese President, Prime Minister, and Parliament Speaker to His Majesty, Khasawneh said Jordan shares similar feelings at the level of the Hashemite leadership, the government and the Jordanian people, who are linked to Lebanon with "close and historic bonds."
Continuing: "These close ties reflect solidarity to overcome difficulties and maximize benefits of joint cooperation and coordination to prospects that serve our peoples, our institutions, and our state of stability."
